Mike Ryan started his career on the factory floor as an engineer with American Standard and Kohler Company. Today, he is the Founder and President of The M. Ryan Group, a supply chain consulting firm serving PE-backed and privately held manufacturers and distributors with $50M to $350M in revenue to restore service and release cash.
At GE Superabrasives, he earned his Six Sigma Black Belt and, with the division's acquisition by Littlejohn & Co., got an early look at how PE reshapes the operating mandate. At Goodyear, he built S&OP into "The Way We Work," generating $253M in cash flow. He later led S&OP at Carlisle Brake & Friction and operations at Hines Specialty Vehicle Group.
Twenty years in large corporations taught him process. PE taught him something harder: the process has to fit the business. In 2016, one consulting engagement became two, then three. He founded The M. Ryan Group in 2017.
That pattern is the model for every engagement today. He works with PE Operating Partners and portfolio companies when inventory is growing, fill rates are falling, and prior fixes haven't stuck. Mike holds BS and MS degrees in Ceramic Engineering from Alfred University. He lives in Northeast Ohio with his wife and four children.
